Goalkeeper gloves size guide. How to measure your hand

The wrong size ruins the best glove. Two minutes measuring saves you three months with a glove that does not perform.

The most common mistake when buying gloves online is not the model, it is the size. Not because the goalkeeper does not know what they want, but because brands measure differently and because the cut changes the actual fit. This guide shows you how to measure your hand and translate that number directly into the right Elite Sport size.

How to measure your hand step by step

You need a flexible measuring tape or a ruler. If you do not have a tape, a piece of string works and then you measure it against a ruler.

Step 1. Extend your dominant hand, open and relaxed, palm flat on the table with fingers together.

Step 2. Measure the WIDTH. Place the tape or ruler horizontally across the knuckles, fingers together and NOT counting the thumb. The number in centimeters is your hand width and is the primary measurement for your size.

Step 3. Measure the LENGTH. Place the tape from the base of the palm to the tip of the longest finger. That number is your hand length and serves as cross-reference.

Step 4. Compare both measurements with the official table. Normally both fall in the same size. If they fall in two different sizes, width usually wins.

Elite Sport adult size chart

Adult Elite Sport sizes run from 6 to 11. Official equivalence in centimeters (hand width without thumb / hand length).

• Size 6: width 6.7 to 7.2 cm. Length 16.1 to 16.9 cm. Small adult or teen hand.

• Size 7: width 7.3 to 7.8 cm. Length 17 to 17.6 cm.

• Size 8: width 7.9 to 8.4 cm. Length 17.7 to 18.4 cm.

• Size 9: width 8.5 to 9 cm. Length 18.5 to 19.2 cm. The bestseller for average adult.

• Size 10: width 9.1 to 9.6 cm. Length 19.3 to 20.3 cm.

• Size 11: width 9.7 to 10.3 cm. Length 20.4 to 21 cm. Large hands.

If your measurement falls between two sizes, the rule is to choose the bigger one for Flat or Rollfinger cuts, and the smaller one for Negative or Flash X cuts.

Kids Pro size chart

The Elite Sport Kids Pro line runs from size 3 to 6. Official equivalence (width / length).

• Size 3: ages 4 to 6. Width 4.7 to 5.5 cm. Length 13 to 14.5 cm.

• Size 4: ages 6 to 8. Width 5.6 to 6 cm. Length 14.5 to 15.3 cm.

• Size 5: ages 8 to 10. Width 6.1 to 6.6 cm. Length 15.3 to 16 cm.

• Size 6: ages 10 to 12. Width 6.7 to 7.2 cm. Length 16.1 to 16.9 cm.

If your child is growing fast, do not buy a bigger size hoping it will last the season. A loose glove does not grip and discourages the player. Better get the right size now and replace it when the time comes.

Cut changes fit, pay attention

Two Elite Sport gloves of the same size number can feel different depending on the cut. Quick rule.

Negative and Flash X. Exact size. T1, Supreme N, Supreme M Aqua, Revolution X and Combat sit snug on the hand.

Flat. Exact size. U1 and R1 leave some natural slack from the cut.

Rollfinger. Size up by one. Real, Black Real and Solo White add volume by wrapping the finger. When in doubt, slightly bigger beats slightly smaller in this cut.

N-Roll and N-Roll 2.0. Exact size. Solo Black, Orca, Vibora, Camaleon, Supreme M NR keep standard fit.

Hybrid. Depends on the model. Lion and Supreme M H fit like a Negative on the inside and a Roll on the outside.

Common sizing mistakes

Buying big to grow into. The glove dances, you lose precision and wear is uneven.

Trusting another brand's size. Every manufacturer measures differently. Measure your hand and compare against the Elite Sport chart.

Trying the glove dry and comparing it to playing wet. Latex hydrates and the glove fits differently. If you test before buying, dampen the palm.

Forgetting the cut. A Negative size 9 and a Rollfinger size 9 do not feel the same. Always read the cut note in the product page.

When to switch sizes

If you have to tighten the strap to the max so it does not move, your glove is too big. If your fingers hit the tip of the glove or do not enter comfortably, it is too small.

A well-fitted glove leaves a couple of millimeters between the fingertip and the glove tip, enough for the latex to wrap the ball without restriction and to prevent friction inside the palm.
